Restorative Justice in Action: From Theory to Practice
Join the CTL for an interactive clinic with Tarek Maassarani, Co-founder of Restorative DC, where we will learn about the theory and practice of restorative justice as it manifests in criminal justice systems, educational systems, and community contexts. We will consider the success, challenges, and possibilities for restorative justice on campus, in DC, and in international settings.

About the Facilitator

Tarek Maassarani
Tarek teaches restorative justice at Georgetown University, where he serves as an adjunct professor in the Justice and Peace Studies Program and the Law Center. A longtime practitioner, Tarek has helped establish half a dozen diversion programs around the country and co-founded Restorative DC, which trains schools, agencies, and communities across the District. He has facilitated hundreds of restorative processes addressing serious harm and has trained thousands of educators, justice professionals, and community leaders both nationally and internationally. Tarek holds a J.D. from Georgetown Law, an M.A. in International Affairs from Columbia University, and dual B.A.s in Environmental Studies and Cultural Anthropology from UC Santa Barbara.
