International development implementers in Ukraine are working against the backdrop of an ongoing conflict, as well as heightened tensions. We were joined by Kristina Jeffers, the program director for Ukraine from the National Democratic Institute (NDI), for a discussion about how supporting a democratic and politically pluralistic Ukraine is inherently conflict prevention work.
About the Facilitator
Kristina Jeffers is a Program Director at the National Democratic Institute (NDI), and directs programs in Ukraine. Kristina has a background in domestic political organizing, and has been a long-time advocate for democracy and governance programming that better meets the needs of marginalized groups. She served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine in the early 2000s, where she worked with Roma community to implement voter registration and Holocaust reparations projects. She is also the founder of My Civic Workout, a newsletter focused on providing new activists with accessible information to become more engaged in civic and political life. Kristina has a MA from the Fletcher School at Tufts, with a focus on comparative legal systems..
